Anyone recommend an entrepreneurs forum?

I'm looking for a good forum (like this one!) which can help me with my aspirations of fiscal World domination.

Like many of you I run my own business (have done for over 10 years), but i'm looking for a forum which I can talk to likeminded people about business opportunities, emerging markets, stock and share tips, property, investments.....

Obviously Ive got people I speak with at work (accountant, bank mamanger, financial advisor etc..), but these people often have an ulterior motive (especially when it comes to investment, which is what im most interested in).

Anyone give me some URL's??

Cheers fellas.

Work with your advisor on a fee basis then, if you think he is just commission biased why deal with him? For my clients I am most interested in the growth of the investment as I get a percentage of it, so our interests are aligned. We agree a set income to cover my regulatory costs and then a trail income thereafter. Very few bank managers will give you much advice, that is why they are still bank managers - I know I was one many years ago. Porsche Cayenne S Diesel 66 Plate

in my experience you will find that type of online forum will be full of people with ulterior motives

for example - buy GOLD NOW!!! - that is the best recommendation you'll get from any investment forum full of people with gold reserves forcing the value up

I am a member on ukbusinessforum.co.uk and that was ok, made some good contacts from there.

What kind of investment are you interested in? stocks/property overseas property etc? you'll find a lot of people on here are either self employed or top/medium level management, so maybe worth a business section on here?

Cheers Kam, yes I think the business section would be a cool idea.

In terms of the investments I am interested in - I really do not care as long as the returns are good and the risk bearable (the holy grail of investments, I know!)..

Just get really tired with the bulk of advice out there; lots and lots is biased and as I said before a lot of ulterior motives..

EX-X5! I've become very dissolusioned with financial advice over the years to such an extent, I now make all my own decisions regarding investment and business opportunities. I listen when advice is offered, but I never pay anyone for advice or to look after my money (except maybe bank charges!). That way, I only have myself to blame if it goes wrong and only myself to make rich if it goes right. I rarely offer advice to other people for the same reasons!!!
I've been mis-sold pensions, life policies, mortgages and all manner of other financial products over the years and for the most part, the only people to come out ahead have been the advisors on a commission.
I stopped my private pensions many, many years ago as they were such a rip off.

To answer your question regarding forums for entrepreneurs, I can't really help you. Kam's suggestion seems ok, but I can't say I've ever been on it. I belong to the FSB (Federation of Small Businesses) and I have aspirations to become too big to be a member, but that's unlikely in the current economic climate and the high taxation in the UK.

A section on here to exchange ideas might be a good idea as a fair percentage of us seem to run our own businesses and they do seem pretty diverse......

Yeah im the same Ant, don't put my money anywhere where i can't access it, although calculated risk is always part and parcel of investments obviously. Don't invest in ISA's and don't have a pension.. my bank balance and hopefully a growing one at that would be the best pension that i can think of.

Think a business area would be good..

Nick, im interested in what you do too.. maybe have a chat sometime? sorry i missed out on gaydon this weekend, definitely have a chat at the motorshow mate!
