Been trying to give the RRS a good clean today! But couldn't get the wheels spot on tried all sort's but the wheels still have black spots on them

Was gonna try one of them hot steamer thing's on the wheels tomorrow but has anyone tried these beofre? will my wheels be safe??


Any ideas guy's?

Alright Jaymann. I normally use a wheel cleaner and brush and do 2 or 3 'laps' round the car. I tried very gently rubbing the black dots with a scouring pad, and it worked and I think I got away with it. Word of warning though - did the same on a beemer and it dulled the finish and scratched them up fairly bad..

Let me know how you get on and PM me if you find the wheel cleaning holy grail - those black spots give me brain damage (to quote jimmy saville - U seen that? Dont know why but It really creases me up)...

black spots will be either Tar or baked on brake dust

Try something like Autoglym Tar remover or something like Wonder Wheels which is a strong acid so don't leave it on too long

If not try a automotive clay bar

EDIT: could it be corrosion?

I just checked my wheels - and I have a few spots - and as you say, cleaning them is almost ompossible. Just put some T cut on the little spots with a cotton bud, being careful not to get them on any part of the wheel - left it for 5 mins and it wiped straight off - I think they could just be tar spots - not sure. give it a try

My black spots were pitted into the alloy and could not be cleaned off. I tried everything and got my wheels reconditioned to fix it. 2022 P440e AB

Wonder Wheels is really good - needs to be put on with s oft brush to make sure it goes everywhere - but like npinks said - it should not be left on for more than a few mins....it's quite strong

I'v used Wonder Wheels before and found Muc Off to be even better but not the time!

Tried the steamer didn't do a thing then tried the steamer and brushing it with a toothbrush at the same time Nothing!

Ever tried the jet wash all

Getting really p***ed off with it now they look fine just when you look up close to them then you can see the spots  RRS TDV6 Gone but still around

advice given is anything from tar and glue remover, to WD40, and a finger nail

I have tried all these on my wheels, the only other option it Autosmart Tardis (industrial strength tar remover) and also a more aggresive clay

i have a small sample of tardis, which when i have time i am going to try and give mine a claying, it is not a quick job through.

Ones done you would be best sealing the wheels with a property alloy wheel sealant.
