interesting report, but does anyone think it it true, or just a stunt?

Don't see why it should be a stunt... I've not heard of these people, but the website looks credible. Just another tuner by the looks of it. It's a different take, as we're used to tuners claiming performance increases not economy increases Very Happy

United Kingdom 2008 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Java Black

Shocked Shocked 23 mpg to 31 Shocked Shocked . Surely performance must have been majorly affected?!. I have to drive amazingly sensible to get 30 mpg on the motorway on mine. Driving hard around town gives 16-18. Normal around town gives 21-23.

I was wondering the same... they advertise it as an economy upgrade, so it follows that this should impact performance somewhat rather than the usual improvement. But then they also talk about simply changing the engine map for increases in torque etc with the view being less gearchanges, less accelerating and braking etc which would lead to increases in mpg.

23mpg? he is driving with a leaden right foot, I struggle to get mine to go below 25mpg and am averaging 29.8mpg, with a 70km/h limit around here I don't even get the car into top gear. Sons of dogs come hither and get flesh

Do you know how the fuel improvement was measured?

I know that the dash 'read out' mpg is not accurate and any type of device interfering with ecu signals could alter this to show more fuel economy than is actually being achieved.

You need to brim the tank every time and take the odometer reading to be accurate on your mpg.

I had a diesel box on a saab which indicated 12% extra but when I measured it the 'old way' ,as above, the improvement was only 4% AND only on a long journey

United Kingdom 2007 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Java Black

Hi Bex,
On the itv program Quentin Wilson was relying on the cars fuel computer to show him the fuel consumption and getting quite excited about it.
I will be running several brim to brim checks on regular trips that I do before being convinced as I realise you cant rely on this computer for accurate checks.
Unit arrived last night and was fitted in around 10 minutes, initial feel is that I can detect a little more power under acceleration, (supposed to be an additional 30bhp) and still runs as good as it always has.
Time will tell how good this unit is. MY07 TDV8 HSE (BAS Remap), Java, Privacy Glass,Tasmods.
