I would say no unless you are going for serious offroading the extra £1000 would be lost when sold. 2005 Zambezi TDV6 - Gone but not forgotten 2009 Alaska TDV8 - Gone and much missed. The rear diff lock is in my humble opinion an unecessary "toy" which serves little purpose that the existing ETC doesn't already achieve. For some reason the US market demands that diff locks are available before they are prepared to "credit" the vehicle with an offroader label. To meet that demand LR make a rear diff available as an optional extra but I can promise you that in the real world the only time you would ever know you had that item fitted was when you paid the original invoice. |

Agree with the others that the rear diff lock is unnecessary unless you're going to off-road your RRS seriously - they are phenomenally capable off road straight from the box without the rear diff lock Like this site? Buy some RRSPORT goodies to show your support! |

I ordered it on my S/C but in the US it is only a $500 option, (currently approximately 280 GBP). For that money I'd say why not? I do know that in recent snow/ice, my S/C performed fantastically even with the stock tyres, as long as terrain response was in the snow/gravel/grass setting. How much the rear diff lock 'helped' is unknown.
