	Indeed it is not an improvement in functionality. There is no front access. Bulb must be replaced from the back however, I have no idea how to remove the pieces that are in the way.

	Thanks Bobby. What's not in the manual is how to get to the back of the bulb. The procedure for removing the inside covers and such.
