As a final and followup: added Lucas Fuel treatment to 20 gal of gas; zeroed out the code; problem(knock wood) seems fixed. Ten drives, no engine warning light.

No, just cleaned it. If I need to, I will get the dealer to do it under warranty. I hate going there: they tend to sit on it.
