Just fix the f'ing thing properly or buy an Astra. Stop making problems for later owners by bodging jobs to save a few quid. If you can't afford to run it, don't buy it.

I got one in the end and it's been pretty good, although I've found the app to be a bit intermittent....for the money though it is great and it is adequate for my insurance needs...

GAP insurance seams reasonable at £100 year.
