Suspension Lowering overnight - Now Fixed

As the title says, for a few months now whilst parked overnight the suspension would lower itself to the access height, It would always go back to normal after starting.

After reading up on here and a couple of other landrover forums I did a bit of fault finding....

The front end always lowered first (overnight) followed by the rear if left long enough, I thought one of the front airbags was duff. I confim this it was left at normal height overnight with battery disconnected, if an airbag was leaking one corner should have dropped. In the morning the front was lowered and rear was OK. This lead me to the front air suspension valve. Got a price for one, £68 + vat, but thought I'd check it out first, we used to strip solenods down at work when we had no spares and more often than not get them working again with just a good clean.

Had to wait for Santa to bring new trolley jack as the old one was a little the worse for wear now

So yesterday I got busy, pulled the wheel arch liner back after removing a few screws & clips to find the valve;-

Squirted it with soapy water to check for any leaks

All Ok so removed valve to strip, mounted on rubbers in kidney slots, just undo pipes, electrics & push up to remove, undid four torx screws in valve to split body & get to inners

As you can see all the valve seats have some residue in, but the centre one loads more

The plunger end was covered too

This was all cleaned out with some solvent spray & dried with airline

Then it was all reassembled & fitted back on.

Started to pump up then left over night with the battery on.

Checked just now and still all ok at normal height

That's the cheapest fix so far. I intend to replace the filter & drier later on just for a bit of preventative maint :thumbsup:

Great write up.

I take it you need to do a full deflate onto the bump stops before removing this?
