Passenger door lock settings

Annoying problem with passenger door. Here goes -
The passenger cannot open the door unless i press the unlock on the dash.
Does anyone know a solution?
P.S

Just had a similar problem, door wouldnt lock/unlock with the key fob. Turned out to be a faulty door latch. 95 dealer fix which included labour. Check out this thread on the Disco site, seems to be a pretty common fault. http://www.disco3.co.uk/forum/topic19134.html

Cheers

Mine is similar in that it does not unlock the passenger doors until I take the keys out of the ignition or press the button - I thouhgt that was how it was meant to work! Maybe that isn't what you are describing though Confused Gordon Kerr

Have you perhaps got single entry configured:

SINGLE/MULTI-POINT ENTRY
When you press the unlock button, your
vehicle will unlock in one of two ways:
1. Single Point Entry: Unlocks the driver's
door and fuel filler flap only. A second
press is required to unlock the remaining
doors and the tailgate.
2. Multi Point Entry: Unlocks all doors, fuel
filler flap and the tailgate on the first press.
Single point entry can be disabled on individual
Smart Keys by unlocking the vehicle then
simultaneously pressing and holding the lock
and unlock buttons for 3 seconds. The vehicle
will lock and then unlock and the hazard
warning lights will flash twice to confirm the
change. You can now unlock all doors with a
single press. Repeating the procedure will
re-enable Single point entry. 3.0 SDV6 HSE Dynamic, Corris Grey with contrast Santorini Black Panoramic Roof, lunar interior, privacy glass, upgraded Meridian system, cooled 18 way front seats, heated steering wheel, adaptive xenons, large screen wash bottle.

Gordon - exactly what mine does.
Sorry guys I don't think I explained it well.
I press the unlock twice On key - passenger gets in no problem. When I drive off the doors lock automatic - it when the passenger wants to get out I either have to press the unlock button or take keys out of car which unlocks all doors.
I don't think it's a fault with the car as it does open if keys taken out or unlock is pressed - the annoying thing is the passanger pulling the handle and the door is locked and can't be unlocked until key out or open button pressed. The drivers door opens the locked door ok so why should the passenger one not. Which is what I would expect!
It's like a child lock for the front passenger door!

Got to be a setting somewhere Question RRS HSE with a few extras & a

I've Looking into this further (from the passengers door prospective).
Can someone try this for me on their rrs.

Get into the passenger side - pull the door closed then press the lock button on the dash.
Then pull the door handle to get out of the car. Will it open ?

Mine won't... I can't even pull the unlock tab (which is below the handle) it still won't unlock. Pressing the unlock button on the dash is the only way.

Alanad... Thanks for the single click entry tip. Works great.

Interior release cable - tell me more please.
(this is starting to sound that there is a fault rather than a setting issue!)

thanks again RRS HSE with a few extras & a

I assume you're referring to the front passanger door...

Separate release cables are connected between the door latch and the interior door handle, and between the door latch and the exterior door handle. In the left front door, a third cable is connected between the door latch and the door lock in the exterior door handle.

The lock and superlock motors control the engagement of the latches with the release cables to lock and unlock the vehicle. When the vehicle is locked, the lock motors disengage the latches from the exterior release cables. When the vehicle is superlocked, the superlock motors also disengage the latches from the interior release cables. When the vehicle is unlocked, the CJB (central junction box) reverses the lock and superlock motors, to re-engage the release cables, by changing the polarity of their power and ground connections. To enable the SPE (single point entry) function, the lock motor in the driver door latch is operated by two dedicated connections with the CJB (central junction box) ; the lock motors in the other three doors are all operated by two (other) common connections with the CJB (central junction box) . The superlock motors in all four door latches are all operated by two common connections with the CJB (central junction box) .

All of the interior door handles incorporate a locking button. Pressing the front of the locking button pushes the
interior release cable, which causes the door latch to disengage from the exterior release cable. On the rear doors, the button also disengages the interior handle from the interior release cable.

Pulling the front of the locking button out again re-engages the interior door handle with the interior release cable, and also pulls on the interior release cable. This causes the door latch to re-engage with the exterior release cable.

Hi,

I have a similar sounding issue where my rear passenger door won't unlock from time to time but then will work fine for a few days. It isn't the entry setting as all other doors are open. I can hear the noise of the motor going but the black button on this door does not move. I have had the wood trim off to see that the cable is correctly attached and all seems well.

To me it seems that the latch needs replacing as the motor isn't working properly but I am confused why it works sometimes and not others??

Does anybody have any ideas please??

Thanks in advance. 2011 Autobiography Santorini Black

The RRS is designed as follows. Open car, drive off and doors auto lock. Unless the car is stopped (engine off and keys out) or the dashboard button is pressed, then no passenger door or boot can be opened from the inside or out. This, i understand is to prevent hi jack of the doors even with windows open and to prevent anyone opening doors while height being adjusted on suspension etc (which requires doors to be closed).

So to summarise, not a fault. just another design quirk!! Thumbs Up

Pete

I had the same issue with my RRS, dealer informed me that this was an issue with the latch mechanism and that the whole thing would be replaced. Happily this was done under warranty. Works perfectly now Smile

Irritatingly I now have an intermittent fault with the rear passenger door not always opening on the first press of the key (I have configured the key to open all doors on the first press). Land Rover have oiled that latch in the hope that this improves the performance as the warranty company won't pay out for a new latch mechanism until a 'permanent solution' is required...
