Lookers Park Royal

I've been quoted £500 to install an ipod connector at lookers Park Royal and that's with a forum discount, surely a simple connector that only allows controls from the steering and ipod should be at least half that price to install?

Apart from that though, I had my car in for a 60k service recently and i must say it was excellent service from dropping off the car to collecting it and they also kept me informed at the various stages of the Service, my only gripe was that they forgot to stamp my service book, but got it sorted in the End.

Well done James Very Happy

See you for the next service.

Sounds very expensive, unless there is loads of work involved in it Question

Sjf1,

Yes they are quite expensive unfortunately. I have sopken to those involved and have confirmed the figures are right (may be £7 cheaper than quoted) Question

£176.17 - Parts (with discount)
£247.50 - Labour (with discount) - 2.5hrs
£74.15 VAT
£497.82

Unfortunately the kit is on restriction at the moment, therefore if you do want one fitted we would need to try and locate one at another dealer.

Hope this helps, and if I could make it cheaper then I would. Wink

Thanks James, a better break down than what i was given.

While we are on the subject can you also confirm what version of the ipod connector this is as i have heard that there are two, one that mounts on the dash and the other that fits in the glovebox.

Also does the playlist from the ipod get displayed on the radioscreen?

Steve

No problem!

The original ipod connectivity module did include a bracket that was mounted behind the wiper stalk. This enabled you to see what was being played. The new type terminates in the glovebox, therefore that is were your iPod would live. Unfortunately it doesn't intergrate with the stereo to give you any information. Big Cry

The benefits are that it charges your iPod and that you can skip up and down the tracks using the steering wheel buttons. In all honesty this is all it is able to offer over and above the standard 3.5mm jack that is behind the centre cubby on SE/HSE models.

I do have one in my car. I leave the iPod on shuffle and then skip the nursery rhymes and Will Young when they come through the speakers! The joys of sharing iTunes with the family!!
