2008 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Buckingham Blue
I am furious!!!

i am going into the third week with my TDV8 and 400km on the meter.
(yes, i am still breaking in the car and had never passed 2.5k rpm.)
anyhow, i dropped off my car to get two things fixed;
to fix my ipod connection and to replace the carpet without the logo.

i picked up the car this afternoon and was driving back to work feeling so happy that
i have my favorite tunes from my ipod.

right then i noticed something.

1) the gas tank i filled yesterday was about 1/8 gone.
2) remaining km on trip computer went down from about 500km(this was when i was driving to the dealer)
to 380km.
3) about 60km put on the meter.

you know what this means...
some bas Censored d went on a FULL THROTTLE cruise when i'm not even finished breaking in!!! Evil or Very Mad
(it really wouldn't have bothered me as much, if this happened even a month from now.)

i don't know. maybe i'm over-reacting but this surely isn't a pleasant feeling.
about a half way back, i considered going back to the dealer to give them hell.
but then again, it's not like i have a hard evidence. so i just drove back.

maybe i should take pictures of the instrument panel everytime i drop off my car for service.
sorry for going off and blabing by myself, folks.
i just had to let it out somehow. MY08 TDV8 HSE

I used to live near Lyndhurst in the New Forrest, there is a Ferrari dealership there, need I say anymore! They were questioned once about giving it beans on one of the forrest roads, the reply was, "It's a sports car, we were performance testing". Whistle Speed Limits! not where I live!

Someone mentioned the other day that it would be useful to have a service handover form like some other forums have, that both you and the dealer sign as you hand the car in to have work done. Something like that would have been useful in this instance to have a record of mileage etc.

The dealer needs to made aware of this really.

I was going to lift the BM3W version, but it looks like they don't have it anymore. I have found the (quite dated) M5 version, which needs some work... In the meantime, if anyone else partakes in another forum where they have such a thing - let me know! Thumbs Up

All of the "luxury" dealers I have been to in the U.S. do this. When you arrive, someone gives the car the once over to look for existing body damage, notes any scratches, chips or dings on a form along with the mileage, and gives you a copy. Probably a result of people being too afraid of lawsuits here, but it is very useful. The more advanced set, like Manhattan BMW, actually keep track of the mileage and, when they send you a note telling you it is time for your next service, the note often indicates what other maintenance is due based upon the mileage.

Any dealer should record the condition of the vehicle and mileage on the job card for both the dealer representative and client to sign. It is there to protect both parties and to ensure there is no ambiguity (big word for this time of day).

Thumbs Up
