Sydney Boxing Day Tradition - Sydney Hobart Race

1st year i managed to get a view of the start of the race, in the UK its counterpart would be the fastnet.

The first picture is of the top 2 maxi's which they believe along with Skandia should take line honours, Wild oats vying for a 3rd year in a row victory and City index a UK interloper Thumbs Up

One of the best team sports going yet it gets little or no air time other than the start and the finish. Ocean racing must be the one sport that puts F1 motor racing in the shade for running costs! The next race for these guys will be the China Sea Race from Hong Kong to Manila in March. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Cheers for the link Z I'll be keeping an eye on it - I see some of the lead boats are doing in excess of 20knots so it must be a bit of a big dipper ride with all that broadreaching and running and surfing. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

I raced on the Skandia Wild Thing, first time out after it sunk on the Sidney Hobart race the year before. It then did the Fastnet here and the top of its mast snapped, but it still did well. It was quite an experience stitting out over the edge and seeing the keel move from side to side. Porsche Cayenne S Diesel 66 Plate

Apparently skandia threw a mast on this trip, just got back from 8 days on the road and not yet caught up with the events, Wild Oats won and as usual like the cricket we came second Whistle Another Pommie Bar Steward down under
