Year of Manufacture

Could someone explain how this works for Land Rover vehicles - eg in what month this year is a vehicle an 08MY - my SC was build in Oct 06, so what is the MY?

Thanks in advance

England 2006 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Java Black

Look at the full chassis number (best place look in the windscreen) and look for the three numbers together in the middle of the chassis number.

SALLSAAXXXA999999

The last of the three middle numbers (marked XXX above) is the chassis year, therfore 328 means 2008 model.

I'd almost put money on yours being a 2007 as opposed to a 2006, but most certainly not a 2008.

Let us know how you get on? Wink TDV8 HSE in Java/Ebony with Zebrano Wood, RSE, Hybrid TV, and a few other bells and whistles.

United Kingdom

They didn't start building MY08 cars until April this year I don't think, so definitely not an 08. LRS is doubtless right - MY07 started in September 06, so if yours was built in Oct 06, it should have fallen into MY07 production.

Thanks for your answer - it is an 06.

Is there a point (roughly) each year when the factory switches to the following model year? Presumably this is driven by the US market.

Unfortunately the V8 diesel is not available here - if it was, done deal!

Thanks to both of you: LR stormer and shmoogle - time delay meant I was typing while shmoogle was sending. My qn is answered thoroughly by both of you so you can terminate this thread.

All the best
