United Kingdom 2005 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Zambezi Silver
Reduced Engine Performance Error message!

I just bought a 2 year old RRS V8 4.2 SC petrol with 11k miles on the clock from a reputable dealer. I've had it for about 2 months, it went through a full service before I bought it (my brother in law was the dealer). I took the car to the shops for something and on the way there it felt sluggish, about a minute into the drive (after chacking i didn't have the brake on or a flat) the (i) sigh illminated on the instrument panel. I checked it and the message read Reduced Engine Performance. I drove the car home slowly and then checked the oil, water, coolant levels and they all look ok.

The manual says that it should be taken to a dealer for a check up. I have full RAC coverage and the vehicle is under warranty. Should I drive 6 miles in London traffic to a dealer, get the RAC to do it or give Landrover helpline a call first?

More importantly is the issue serious?

Any help apreciated. Shocked

As aljo said give L/R assist a call first, bad luck by the way, it is probably something simple Rolling Eyes

Why have RAC cover when your LRA coverage hasn't yet expired? Ring LRA first - RAC won't have a clue.

Thanks guys. I got LR assistance to drop out, they arrived on time, apologised for being 5 mins early and then ran a diagnostic on the car. It appears that it was a power surge register which pushed the car into limp mode. A software update has patched the problem but I need to take it to a stealer to get the full update implemented.

Btw I have a CLK 320 which the RAC cover takes care of Very Happy
