2008 RRS tdv8 tailgate problem

Hi everyone, have a problem as tailgate is in the locked but not properly closed position, discovered flat battery yesterday disconnected battery did the jump wire across positive and negative wires for 20 minutes to reset locks then fully charged battery reconnected terminals but still unable to open or close properly the tailgate . Is there a switch or something I need to look for/ replace ? Had similar experience 5 years ago and someone suggested pushing the button whilst pushing down and inwards on tailgate which actually worked back then but not this time 😟 can’t hear anything noise from the tailgate switch which you normally would πŸ€” all help suggestions very welcome I did read that someone replaced a micro switch possibly? Thanks

I think you have to force it closed.
And then it will work correctly again

Good news I literally pressed as hard as possible so that tailgate was shut ( so it thought πŸ˜‰) pressed the button and BINGO πŸ‘πŸ™πŸ» it’s back to normal. Hoovered the crap trapped where the catch hooks onto and a good clean down with WD40

I have exactly the same situation when I almost closed my tailgate while battery was disconnected.
It is not closet and can not open with the pushbutton.
I will try to force it closed as you describe. (I have tried it with "soft" force Smile)

If this does not work, what to do next? The upper tailgate can, of corse, not open.
