Starter motor removal range rover sport 4.2 v8 supercharged

Hi. I have to replace my starter motor. I've removed 3 heat shields and the plastic inner wing, to get some access. But that's as far as I've gone. I'll be attempting this lying on my back with the car jacked up.. has anyone done their own starter motor. Is it easyish to do, I really need some how to tips on how to do this job.. also any tips as to getting the power leads off the body of the starter motor..
Thanks in advance fellas.

Download the workshop manual: http://www.mediafire.com/file/yunzrqm47py4pww/RRSL320WSM2006.pdf

Thumbs Up 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Unfortunately that link now takes you to the Owner’s Handbook rather than the Workshop Manual.

Update - it takes you to a document that contains BOTH the Owner’s Manual AND the Workshop Manual.
The index for the Owner’s Manual is on page 346 in a PDF reader (Apple’s Preview)

Then follows the Workshop Manual starting on page 356. Note this is possibly the workshop Manual from 2009 so be careful if you are working with a later model e.g. the towing electrics are completely different from 2012, it doesn’t cover the TDV6 3.0 engine installed from 2009 onwards

Starter Motor removal for the TDV6 2.7 starts on page 2578 😊

I’ve found the sections on these pages
Section 1 - General Information. - page 346
Section 2 - Chassis. - page 448
Section 3 - Powertrain. - page 1301
Section 4 - Electrical. - page 3933 Contents of wiring diagrams on page 4630, 4870, 5083 and 5306 but not clear to me which variant each one is intended to cover.
Section 5 - Body and Paint. - Completely missing

It’s hard to find what you need but better than what I had before!

Just a follow up for the starter motor. I had a mobile mechanic have a look, it turned out to be a loose terminal connection. It was in an area I didn't have the correct extension bars to reach the nut.. he did, and got a good turn.. on the nut problem solved.

I seem to recall this being mentioned before, it starts off with the handbook, but if you keep looking the manual is there further on, try starting around pages 425/450, or open it with adobe acrobat, document properties and set the navigation tab to bookmark panel & page it will show the different section under bookmarks.

Cheers
