Never seen that before Dave. Any chance it could be moisture. 2006 2.7 TDV6 HSE in Cairns Blue. |

Other than climate and / or adhesive I can't really think what else it could be. I guess it could be repaired professionally.

I can only think it is/was moisture, it was zero or minus for over a week, and with it being out of any sunlight, maybe that was the cause.

So, I took the car to a local interior specialist today, and his view was that the 'leather' had been affected by the summers hot sun (the car had been parked with the front into the sun from dawn to late afternoon), and separated from the glue.

How about putting a dash mat cover on. Most people here put one on - it hides a multitude of sins |

I was thinking how those living in hotter climes managed.

I've had a look at some of those online. There appear to be some really good quality ones in the USA, and some real cheap and nasties elsewhere. A friend of mine bought one and it turned out to be similar to a carpet which was cut to a shape similar (but by no means exact) to the make / model he specified. I've also seen they vary as to how to apply them over the dash, and some cheapies do not allow for the airbag. I seriously considered getting one of the bespoke ones from the USA but to import here cost more than the item. I'm sure there are some good quality ones around, just do your homework if considering buying, and note that some companies only offer LHD options. Barrie. 2017-Jan 2024: 2005 RRS 2.7TDV6. Best car I ever had - until now! Current: 2018 Ford Ranger Wildtrak 3.2 |

Here if you want you car to survive, you dont leave you car in the open for very long. Whenever I take my car out, unless it is only going to be parked for a few minutes or after the sun has gone down, I find a spot under cover, other wise it will get trashed by the sun. I have a friend who has a Jeep Grand Cherokee Trackhawk who doesnt care and the leather dash has been destroyed (its only 3 years old). Landrover plastics are particularly susceptable to UV degridation. I have found that out after owning them since 1996. |

It's not just the sun though, or UV rays, it's the heat. I cover mine wherever possible but it still gets ridiculously hot inside the car even in the shade. This, IMHO, also causes issues with the interior fabrics. Barrie.
