Hi,

Bit of a long shot this I know but I'll try and keep it simple.

My son is having to put his 2013 AB RRS in for some unexpected work. He was hoping to drive it from UK to Portugal and back in a couple of weeks with his family and dog but we have been told the car is unlikely to be ready in time. So we're working on a Plan B.

Can anyone recommend a good reliable company where he might be able to hire a similar car or truck for the each-way journey? We are currently trying different car rental companies.

He lives in Hampshire and has a reservation on the Eurotunnel Shuttle, the plan being to drive via France and Spain and on to me in north Portugal. He hopes to stay 2-3 weeks. He's an experienced driver and has had a clean UK licence for 20+ years.

Any recommendations or ideas gratefully received. Thanks. Barrie.

But make sure you go over the car with a very fine tooth comb, We hired from them one way within the UK and at the destination they tried to screw us over for a very minor bodywork issue which they obviously knew existed because they went straight to it, yet on my inspection it was not there. Surely you can get one from the mainstream companies, but I think you have to inform them it’s going into Europe. 2006 2.7 TDV6 HSE in Cairns Blue.

Yes, we've made contact with some. Most have either none that would be suitable due to high demand (more people driving than flying due to the airlines cancellations), and others are ridiculous prices. One quoted 4k for a 3 week hire plus a hefty deposit. It would be cheaper to buy one and sell it when he comes back I think! Barrie.
