Side step shortage and not-applicable to SVR debacle.

Hi everyone,

I’ve tried to source some fixed side-steps for my car, and as probably many know there is a shortage of supply. The dealer who sold the car to me clearly didn’t want to get involved at the time of sale, not only blaming the shortage of supply but also the fact that according to LR there fitment to SVRs is ‘not applicable’. I’m fairly sure this has not always been the case, and I’ve definitely seen many SVRs with fixed steps fitted.

So since this I’ve put my name down on a pair with another 2 dealers, one would honour the price stated on Land Rover accessories with no debate about SVR suitability but can’t guarantee a lead time. The other has committed to a date in a few weeks, raised concerns about there fitment but most importantly want just over £1500. Now in the big picture a couple of hundred quid is not major but I’m fairly sure they’re supposed to match LR’s figures, is that correct? I did raise this concern to which they bamboozled me a little bit with labour time, etc. I’ve let it go for now because I just want the damn steps!!!

Has anyone been told the same about the SVR’s suitability with these steps recently? Or indeed had them fitted with absolutely no quibbles? The reason my second dealer told me was because the SVR is ‘lower’ than the non-SVR sport?!?

Thanks for any info,

Andy

Hi Andy,Have you tried this company,I got a pair from them & fitted both sides in around 30 minutes. It wasn’t a svr but they will tell you if they’ll fit or not & a reasonable price considering the quality.

I did see these in a search on the forum yes thank you, it’s definitely something I’d have considered but wanted to play things safe with warranty, I have one year left and don’t want to give LR any excuses! I’m sure you know how it is.

The forum seems very slow these days!

I’ve always fitted aftermarket staps on all my sports apart from one which came with steps & never been questioned when car has gone in for warranty work. Andy.
