According to the LR service schedule the gearbox is not due for service until 10 years or 160,000 miles so assume nothing has been done. ZF recommend interval should be 50,000 miles so get a service done.

The warranty won't be worth the paper it's printed on and certainly won't include for a service item that, according to the manufacturer, isn't yet due. The warranty is the way dealers get out of paying for stuff they are legally required to pay for - they just say "sorry, checked and the warranty doesn't cover that item" before giving you a price to fix something they should be doing anyway. It will benefit from a gearbox fluid change, either the Land Rover method of changing the fluid twice (doesn't change all of the fluid but does an ok job), or better still is a flush. As to where you take it, the best advice is a decent indie Land Rover specialist. That's for all work on it. Avoid LR dealerships like the plague. They are expensive and inadequate and will often end up either damaging something or not fixing the problem it's in for requiring more than one visit. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders 2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed |

I recently had mine done at 133k and made a noticeable difference. I never buy into any of this sealed for life rubbish. I got mine done by Ian Bodsworth, he's a mobile guy with an excellent reputation. You can find him on FB on the Range Rover groups. |

It won’t do you any harm finding a LR specialist, although I couldn’t offer any advice where in Ulster. Perhaps have a quick sear on the Disco3 sister site to see if there are any recommendations. 2006 2.7 TDV6 HSE in Cairns Blue. |
