Good luck. The brake upgrade is like night and day, you won’t look back. 2006 2.7 TDV6 HSE in Cairns Blue. |

Well I got the seal and the fronts done, took me an age to get the brake hose retaining bracket bolt out!! Then the callipers were in a worse state than I thought so took longer to clean up, I was going to paint them silver to match the new brackets but ended up giving then a coat of Matt Black for now as I could blend it into the rust better.

Nice. Is this just a case of calipers and disks or do you need new carriers? |

New caliper brackets required for the larger discs, same for the rears. Steve

Hope you have better luck than me with the diff oil? Rear offside output shaft seal started leaking after I did mine, then the front offside started leaking and I’ve just done the near side front, mind you breather filter was blocked on the the front diff, getting quite good at draining and refilling the front diff. No problem mate. I’m running the standard 19” wheels the V8 conversion requires minimum of 18” I believe? So it’s the small hands sinario 😆

Yeah I noticed mines a bit worrying to slow down when tanking on.... Mine also appears to have warped fronts ( odd as the garage put them on just before we picked it up ) so I may look for an upgrade but I dont yet know the size of mine. I am on 20's atm but I have been looking at 22's so clearance shouldnt be an issue.

You could always go for the six pot Brembos with 380mm discs, same as the S/C, Powerful UK do a conversion kit for about 1K or used to. Cheers Col |

For a given speed, your RRS will be carrying 40% more kinetic energy than your Volvo irrespective of engine power. I think it's also worth remembering that LR will have to consider how the brakes work in hot climates, silly-cold conditions, when off road (using the brakes in traction control to control wheel spin), giving the "chauffeur braking feel", etc., and design the brakes to deal with it all. For the standard RRS models, having ultimate braking bite on the motorway was probably not at the top of their list. I found an Evoque I had on loan once had excellent brakes with real bite so LR can do it, but the Evoque will have different design priorities to the RRS. My old TDV8 had the 4-pot Brembos as standard and even that didn't feel as good on the brakes as our old Skoda Octavia. It never made me think "I'm not going to stop" but it never had the top of pedal bite that a lot of ordinary cars have. Don't get me wrong, I could chuck that down a fast road and give the brakes some serious welly and they never let me down. But they never had confidence-inspiring bite on the pedal. I just learned to drive around it and accept it. ![]() 2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed |

They still do, Col. ![]() https://www.powerfuluk.com/vehicles/range-...ipers.html
Needs 20 inch rims, however, to fit over them. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders 2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed |
