Just a quickie, after confirming I need to replace a front air spring (looks as straightforward as a P38 air bag). Are you all sticking with OEM?

The air springs are usually very reliable so we don't get many people changing them. Are you going to replace just the bag or are you going to get a whole strut - bag and damper together?

If changing the whole unit, it would be sensible to replace both sides to ensure the dampers are working equally. (Sorry, I'm sure you know that but it's always worth reminding people when it comes to safety stuff )

If I were needing to change mine, I'd go OEM but not LR-boxed and badged. Don't see the point of paying extra just for LR's logo on the same item.  2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

Hi TDV8, that’s sound advice. It looks easier to change the whole strut having said that I’ve never seen anyone separating the bag and strut.

The bag and damper are (or were anyway) available as separate items and there is a method in the workshop manual on how to separate/rebuild them. The bag was nearly as much as a whole strut so it made little sense to me why one would do them separately.

On vehicles with adaptive damping, the whole strut is pretty pricey, but it's a once in an ownership item to replace - most people will never do it, I'm sure. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

Absolutely agree that the original owners will probably never have to change the air springs during their ownership. All of my previous EAS issues have always been leaking air bags from P38s, L322 and now the L320. Never had issues with the valve blocks etc. Could be due to the winter conditions here in Scotland plus mine are off road most weekends so the bags will be getting dirty and not always washed down.
