Baby Car Seat Recommendations Pls

Hello All

My car should arrive in July and by then my first born will be 7 months old. Can any member recommend a decent car seat please as I am worried that if I choose the wrong one it may mark/deform the leather seat with long term use.

Thanks

We have 3 kids and used maxi cosi rear facing when they were very Small. When older we have recaro seats as they appear more comfortable and also look better. In terms of marking leather then if you get one with a fixed isofix fix base you won’t be taking it in/out so that reduces the potential for damage. You can also buy a seat protector that goes under the seat off Amazon. MY2022 HSE Silver D300 in Firenze Red with black contrast roof

FFS!! Buy the best / safest car seat for your child and to hell with the leather. Apart from the fact your child won’t give a **** about your car and will drop stuff and be sick all over it, so what if the leather gets damaged by the seat? How would you feel if you didn’t buy the best seat in order to save the leather, had an accident and your child was injured or killed? Would having undamaged leather really compensate....

Hello Haggisman

I am not just concerned about the damage to the car seat and maybe I should have wrote that on my initial post. My kids safety is OBVIOUSLY my main concern and I wasn't expecting members to give me advice based solely on the effects on the seats, which is why I am grateful to Eagle77 for answering my question without assuming all I gave a toss about was my car seats Smile

I have got a “recaro” protector on the base of my passenger seats as well as the back of the front seats which is quite padded. I then have a larger seat protector from Amazon that covers the back and base of the seat from crumbs and splashes.

I agree that safety comes first, but I also have an interest in trying to keep my car in good a condition as possible. Occasionally I need to take seats out and I’ve not noticed any marks as yet.

As for a baby’s seat, I assume you already have one and best bet is to use the one you have until age 1, then you open up to other options. We had/have Joie swivel 360 ones which rotate, can be front or back facing, but being able to turn the seat to face you is a huge help when putting the little one in.

Definitely agree on the swivel type seats - makes it much easier to secure the little one and reduces the risk of doing you back in! The Recaro one we had weighted an absolute ton so was very sturdy. MY2022 HSE Silver D300 in Firenze Red with black contrast roof
