Hi all

Being one of the big boys with their toys .. (and girls), I have just bought a 2011 RRS tdv6 3.0 hse (L320) and having seen the most stolen to order cars at the moment are RRS and BMW something or other, I thought that I had better get some protection, although it’s an oldy, it’s my oldy. I am currently looking at the Ghost immobiliser 2. At £500 ish, it isn’t cheap, but looks like it’s the doggies danglers. I am looking for anyone who has found it to be problem. Ie not accepting the code or stopping the car for no reason. The last immobiliser I had was probably 20 years ago and they were notorious for causing problems.

Any advice or reviews would be greatly appreciated and if and when I get it I shall report on everything from installation to day to day usage of it

Had a slight issue after about a year, wouldn't let car start even though I put the correct code in...supying dealer sorted it free of charge....he came round and got to the wiring and got started to take to his workshop...

Turns out software had become corrupted by too many incorrect / rapid code sequence entries....which was true...some times I would put code in very quickly but car would not start so would enter it again...
Apparently you should enter code in a steady manner entering each "nmr" in about 1s intervals to allow ghost to register the entties to disarm itself. On the upside seems it failed active....so proved it works

For mine, came darn sarf and fitted it, showed me
how it all works, and made sure I was happy before they
left for home, even called a couple of weeks later to make sure
I was still happy, never had any issues, and it does exactly what
it says on the tin..

I have a nasty habit of overthinking things.. and on that note. Do the fitters tell you were they have “hidden” the immobiliser box. As I understand it, the box is about half credit card size and can literally be anywhere in the electrical system. Reason I’m thinking of this, is, what if the company goes bust and a problem occurs with it. If I take it to my usual mechanic, would he be able to sort problemo out..

Yea, I’ve done loads more research and I’m definitely getting it fitted with the tracker that’s on offer at minute. Thanks to all that’s put their views forward

To answer the question about location. I know the rough area where it was installed, but I didn’t particularly want to know where it was being installed to be honest. I imagine if I needed to I’d be able to find it.
