How to guide - Valve cover (intake manifold) replacement.

Hi All,

Now that i have got the parts needed to sort my leaking manifold im looking round for a good how to guide. using the WSM it moves all over the place from one section to another, and im sure not everything needs to be completly removed i.e. aux belt etc.) to complete the job.


I have serched both on hear and the disco forum along with Youtube but havent managed to locate anything yet...

It's not an easy jiob!
As a minimum.

Injectors need removing.
Fuel rail need removing and the mounting bracket

There is a bolt which is under the cambelt cover, and this is probably why the aux belt needs removing, to then undo the cambelt cover!

I think it genuinely is a big job. When I had the inlet manifold changed on my SDV6, it was a whole day with two blokes on it. Apparently there is a lot of stuff that has to come off and then go back on which takes the time. This is with an indie, not a dealer looking for an excuse to charge a fortune and take an age doing the job. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Thanks for the replys, if i had a decent indi local to me i would get them to do the work no problems. as i dont then im left to do it myself.

i have next week off so have pleny of time and no need to rush.....

I have just had my second one done at an Indie Garage ( Ultimate 4x4 )
it took them a whole Day to replace .

That's why I had both done when one split last year. The biggest cost in the job is the labour required to do it and half of the stuff needs to be taken off whether you do one or both sides. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

7 hours to strip it down? So my indie wasn't far off when he said it was a big job. Shocked

That battery box base looks like it's had a spillage happen in to it. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
