Welcome to the forum Shez. First tip, don't go by rumour and hearsay! There are loads and loads off RRS out there that haven't given their owners one moment for concern.

How many of those people have actually driven, let alone owned, a RRS? I remember being told "they're no good off road" and "they're useless in the snow". Always by people who had no experience of the RRS. For the record, it's excellent off road and in the snow. Sure, choosing the correct tyres makes a huge difference but even on road tyres the RRS gets around where other, lesser, 4x4s will struggle. I'm in the camp of people who have had a few issues with my RRS. I'm still driving it nearly 5 years after I bought it, however. Why? Because it's so bloody good at what it does.
Take your time and the right vehicle will emerge from the gloom.
Why do you want a Sport? If you just want a reliable road vehicle then remaining in the X5 would be sensible. If you want any of the RRS's off-road or towing ability then yes, buy the Sport. If you just want a comfortable, extremely capable, refined long distance sports tourer then the Sport is also for you. If you want a sports car, look elsewhere; sure, the Sport handles well for a 2.5 tonne 4x4 but it's never going to match something that was intended for tarmac use alone. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders 2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed |

There are loads available, as RRSTDv8 says, take your time, research suitable cars thoroughly (there is a buyers guide available on the forum BTW, and also look at our sister forum Disco3.co.uk for fixes to the more common issues as under the bodywork both cars have almost the running gear). Did you try to make the owner of the one you like an offer at your budget, he might just take it! Also have a look at what is for sale in this forum's For sale and Wanted section and also take a look at the Approved Used section of the Land Rover UK website as there are good older cars come up on there too, and you can refine your search to price/ colour/ model/ distance from you. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

One thing is for sure, there is more character in the boot of a RRS than a whole X5

The one I got was 17k 58 plate with 89,000, 23k seems a bit dear for a 59 with similar mileage? Buy smart and you won't regret it. I had a couple of issues with mine in the first week but not biggies and all covered by the garage. I've done 1000 miles in it now, 82 miles a day commuting and it's good as gold. I'm happy I chose one over an x5/q5, turns more heads and is way more comfortable in my opinion. |

Just ask yourself how many RRS and D3/4's which are basically the same car under the skin do you see on the road compared to X5's ? 2008 G4 RRSport TDV8 current

I'm relatively new to the RRS fraternity and also hesitated before taking the plunge. I've no regrets and loving it. My advice is to look at the provenance of your prospective purchase. Mine was owned by the dealer himself for two years and prior to that by a doctor. OK, so what you might think but take this into account with the usual stuff such as top notch service record and you should be fine. |

There are plenty more available. If he won't budge, leave him a contact number in case he changes his mind and go and look elsewhere. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
