Aircompressor upper cover - how to

I took the aircompressor out for an overhaul, which succeeded but I've difficulties getting the upper cover back. For the moment I stopped and only mounted the lower part. I'm afraid that I have to take it out again to put the upper cover back where it belongs or is there an other way.

I know I pulled it out without a real problem (to get access to the upper bolt) while the compressor was still attached to the car.

Any help/experience is appreciated Rolling Eyes

PS Late edit - I assumed you had a Hitachi but looking at your car I guess it has an AMK (you should give us all the information when you post) so the below information may not apply which is for an Hitachi.

Bolt your compressor up - do not put the bottom cover on. Just force the top cover up over the top - you need to be quite rough with it.

Start with the cover in the vertical position - front to the front, rear to the rear with the edge that will end up next to the chassis at the top - push vertically and around the top of the compressor - it will go if you push and shove it.

Get into a rough position and then bolt up the bottom cover but only put the bolts etc in very loosely, then jiggle both covers until the bottom clips into the top cover and the rear compressor pipes are in about the right position - when both covers are clipped together - bolt up the bottom cover and it will bring everything back into line.

Thanks for the feedback/confirmation. I did start it this way, but got doubts so I stopped. Will give it another try today and will provide an update. Your are right that providing the type helps to eliminate assumptions. Just to be clear, I'm referring to the Hitachi System Air Suspension Compressor Pump Very Happy

Now you can put the top cover up first then put the compressor in but then the top bolt is very difficult to start the thread and then tighten up. 07MY RRS TDV6

Just finished it. I unbolted the 2 rubber mounts of the compressor and moved the compressor in such that I had more space available. It took no force and some wiggling to get the upper cover were it belongs. In fact easy if you know the sequence. Bolted both mounts back in the position and placed the undercover. Max 20 minutes included cleaning up the place.

Thanks again for you help!
