United Kingdom 2010 Range Rover Sport 3.0 TDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey
2012 SDV6 with gearstick

The following video popped up on YouTube in the recommended videos:

It's a 2012, with one piece tailgate and a normal gearstick Confused

Presumably being a 2012, it has the 8 speed gearbox so I would have thought it should have the rotary selector?

This is a South African review. Was there an export variant of the 2012 L320 without the 8 speed? Kev

Haven't watched the video yet, but if it's actualy a 5.0 S/C not a SDV6 it will still have the 6 speed stick shift as the original 8 speed box couldn't take the power output of 5.0L engine and they never changed till the RRS2.

Interesting just watched the video, certainly looks like the V6, maybe it is a overseas market thing for the likes of S/A.

Out of curiosity just had a look at a few for sale down here, a lot of the later 2012 3.0L's here still have the stick shift as well, a couple off them were N/Z new as well as imports. Not sure when they first started to fit the 8 speed though.

Cheers
Col

It's definitely a diesel, Col. At 5:15 the camera shows the fuel gauge and fuel type.

So presumably these must have the 6 speed box. It's interesting, I wonder why they did it. Kev

Yeah, I looked at the rev counter would have been up to 8k for a S/C. Thumbs Up

The TDV8 had the gearstick too during its brief life in the facelift version. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Ah yes, good spot, Col. Thumbs Up

Regarding the V8, I agree, but that would have only been on a MY2010 wouldn't it? Kev

The TDV8 was phased out for MY11 cars on, these are MY12 cars, for some strange reason one of the adverts here for a NZ new car gave the VIN No. punched it in to Topix and came back with 6 speed HP28 fitted, plus one piece tailgate etc. VIN. started with CA although Topix has been known to be wrong. Not sure when the exact Vin. change over point was from the 6 to 8 speed was for the 3.0L. So glad they didn't fit that crap rotary thing into my old S/C as wouldn't have had a hand rest. Laughing

Cheers

South Africa 2013 Range Rover Sport Supercharged Siberian Silver

the '2012' means very little in South Africa, as dealers often 'buy' a car from themselves but it is not registered until they sell it off to a customer.

For example, when I was looking for an RRS in 2018/9, I could find Disco 4 V8s which were being advertised as 2016/7/8 models even though they were discontinued in 2012/3.

in ZA, the actual vehicle MY is not registered, only the first date of registration. --

It has the one piece tailgate and the later style terrain control switch/panel etc. plus the later screen interface which makes it a 2012 car at least.
