Hi gents,

Ok, this is a weird one: I've noticed a smell of sulphur/rotten eggs when parking the Rangie - have any of you ever experienced this on a petrol car?

I noticed it last week, but thought it was a drain/gutter as it had rained the night before. But yesterday when I parked the car, my wife was waiting in the garage to get stuff out of the car, and she also mentioned that something smells funny.

We have been in strict lockdown for 3 weeks now, and I only go out once a week for essential groceries, so the car is not being driven much. The shop is 2 km away, so I try to take the longest route possible to give everything a bit of a workout.

Anything I should be concerned about?

That rotten egg/sulphur smell normally originates from the Cat Converter. It maybe just needs to get really hot to get it back to best order or it maybe a sign that it’s on it’s way out. Normally though the engine light would come on (lamda sensors?) well before total failure.

Just went for a nice drive to get some meat & bread from nearby farms, got everything up to temperature by driving like a WRC driver
