Electric window woes….2006 RRS HSE 2.7tD

2006 RRS HSE 2.7tD Electric window woes….

Asking for some help with this - thanks in advance:

Had planned to install a CarPlay system and then ended up moving house a week before Christmas which meant the install hasn’t happened. In the meantime….

The driver’s door window switches for the rear passenger windows had started to operate intermittently and have now stopped working altogether – so mrs_map_rrs asked me to sort those to help keep the dogs cool in the car now warmer weather’s here before embarking on the CarPlay install.

Current situation:

Both front windows operate as expected from the driver’s window switch pack.
The rear window isolator in the driver’s switch pack operates as expected.
Both rear passenger door window switches operate their windows as expected.

Neither rear passenger window can be operated from the driver’s window switch pack.

Tested:

Have removed driver’s window switch pack – disassembled to PCB and the switch activation validated at the PCB pin outs. All pass current when operated.

Had a look at as much of the loom on the driver’s side sill area as I can – cannot see anything obvious. Am reluctant to start unwinding the loom at this time & I cannot find a comprehensive loom drawing that shows the colours throughout the loom – am sure they’re out there but would prefer to check the swap out stuff before digging any further.

Next Steps:

Could it be the Rear Window Relay?

Understand there’s a separate relay for the rear windows and imagine the driver’s switch pack runs to that before the signal heads to the rear door window motors.

Is there a way to test the relay out of the car?

Aside from the loom what other suggestions are there?

Would like to get this sorted – along with the steering wheel cruise control switches – know that’s probably just a replacement steering wheel loom.

Any constructive pointers would be appreciated.

Thank you in advance

Hi

There aren't any cleaver electronics for the rear windows.

I sugguest you look at the grey wires on the drivers window switch pack

With ignition I on

See if the grey/orange wires go + when you try and open the rear windows from the front

@Andy K - thank you, will give that a go.

Just need to work out how to get at those whilst the other circuits are disconnected with the connector blocks separated.

Guess I could always cut those wires and reconnect them again.....

Off to YouTube for me.

Take the drivers door card off probably the thing to do

Grey/red is up

Grey/yellow provides power to the rear switches
