Engine not turning off with key out of ignition

I went to turn ignition off as usual tonight and the key came out but the engine still ticking over. Anyone experienced this before. I had to pull a fuse to get it to stop. RRS 2.7 HSE Stornoway Grey

I had the same problem when I was replacing interior lights and I pulled a fuse, realised it was the wrong one so put it back immediately.
The engine started itself with no key in the igniition and wouldn't switch off. I had to pull the fuel pump fuse to get it stop!
I really hope it's not the same problem as it turned out I'd blown the BCM (Body Control Module - the ECU that all the other ECU's connect to) and cost me £2,000 to replace!
Fingers crossed it's something much more simple. 2016 RRS SVR Estoril Blue

If we all point our RR's in the same direction and accelerate at the same time can we turn back time?

Yeah I hope it's not that fault either Scrumpy.

Is the BCM ECU situated at the drivers right foot under the plastic casing ? Thumbs Up RRS 2.7 HSE Stornoway Grey

I've had a check of the fuses and relays and it doesn't look like these are at fault (unless I'm checking the wrong ones which there is a good chance of)

The next thing Mikey advised me to check was the ignition switch. But I'm not sure if you can check this as it looks like an enclosed ignition barrel. If I bought an ignition barrel from ebay with a key, can I program the new key with my IID Tool ? Thumbs Up RRS 2.7 HSE Stornoway Grey

OK this sounds bizarre, but here goes... it looks as though the issue I'm having is with one of the relays in the fuse compartment under the bonnet.

The relay in question, R4 is for heated water jet/heated mirrors. So really the bit I'm confused about is that it has nothing to do with the ignition circuit... or does it ?

It was only by process of elimination that I noticed the ignition dash lights go off when I wiggled this relay about - sticky relay that interfered with the main circuit... who knows!!! any other thoughts welcomed. Thumbs Up RRS 2.7 HSE Stornoway Grey
