TDV8 mystery smoke from left side of engine

I've had my 58 plate TDV8 for over a year now.
In the time I have owned it, I've had to replace the coolant expansion bottle and the suspension lift pump and the upper two intercooler hoses which had degraded.

On my recent MOT, the inspector advised that I had a oil leak on the left side of the engine and smoke is eminating from the side of the engine but he could not see where it was coming from. The smoke seems to come from about half way down the engine (not the FBH) I can only assume one of three things (1) oil is touching something hot (2)that the lower pipe to the left turbo has split (3) the rocket cover gasket has failed on that side. The smoke starts pretty much straight away even from cold before any gets a change to heat up so I think that the most likely source will be some kind of exhaust leak

Are there any other owners who can shed some light on this problem? Is it common?

United Kingdom 2012 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Orkney Grey

Is this "left" when stood in front looking in to the engine bay or when sat in the driver's seat? 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed
