Hello everyone,

Just a quick question to ask my fellow LR owners what I should do to prepare for a road trip. We are only driving for 2 hours there and back along with the driving we will do in the local area. The things I plan on doing is checking tire pressure to make sure they are all identical as well as dismantling and cleaning the breather system. If I can clean and re calibrate the throttle body I’ll do it but I’ll cross that bridge when I get to it. Aside from all this is there anything else I should check or be concerned with? To be honest I’m a little afraid of my Rover breaking down as these things just can’t be left with any small town mechanic and I know this sounds biased but my previous Volkswagens and Audis have never let me down. I change the oil religiously and make sure the Rover is well taken care of by qualified mechanics but because of their rep, I shy away from taking long trips and prefer my wife’s 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe. Sorry for sounding for chicken lol. Either way I’d love to hear from the community on any tips you may have

You have a petrol. Should be fine

Check tyre pressures as front /rear are usually different..
A 2 hour run will do the car the world of good. If you want to, why not just run the trip on super fuel, or add a fuel cleaner additive when you fill up. That'll also work its magic while you drive...

or if its running fine, don't add additive!

I regularly do West Mids to Edinburgh which with local journeys added is usually 700 miles round trip with no dramas. Small miles with no warm ups is what kills cars and diesels and dpf's in particular, but any motor will benefit from a better mix of journey types.

If you are worried about a 2hr trip you need to think about turning japanese, I really think so.

The only problem i have with a 2 hour journey is how many times i have to fuel up

LOL, a lot of great replies thanks everyone. For the record, I live in Ottawa and my commute is 15-20 mins one way so a 2 hour jaunt most definitely IS a road trip but I never even thought of adding a cleaner to the engine to flush it out on the highway drive so I may just do that.

Andy, you're against this. May I ask why? I know today's fuels have many cleaner additives already mixed in but is there another reason you may have for being against it? Curious because I may not do it too.

It’s fine to add a fuel system additive/ cleaner.
