Charging Battery and HDC indication

Hello,

I have an 2005 RRS and I have two questions.

I need to keep the battery with an external charger , what would be the best way to do it with the battery connected or should I remove one pole? Is it ok for the car to stay for 3 months without the battery connected ?

The next question is that occasionally I get in my dashboard right after I turn it on a message that says HDC fault with a sign for the manual and right after another message that special systems are off. A second later everything disappears from my screen without any further notification.
Any advice please?

Thank you in advance

How old is the battery to start you may need a new one and you can either disconnect the battery or put a battery conditioner on it Thumbs Up

Thank you for your reply.

This is exactly what I have , a charger which serves as conditioner as well, but should I have the battery connected or not while charging. The battery is not so old just need to maintain it for three months without use.

You can leave the battery connected as once its charged as long as the charger/conditioner does what it says Thumbs Up

I have the same warnings every time I start mine up....I assumed it`s normal as they go off. Steve.

I have a 2005 RRS petrol SC so different to yours and Steve's but I don't get any warning messages when I start the ignition. I get the usual lights come up at the beginning and a message saying "system check" and once that finishes I crank the engine and everything clears.
Don't know if that helps 2016 RRS SVR Estoril Blue
2005 4.2L Supercharged Java Black - gone but was my first love.

If we all point our RR's in the same direction and accelerate at the same time can we turn back time?

If you get HDC fault and special systems off, after starting then the battery is near the end of life / or requires charging.

Thank you both guys for your time , really good to know Thumbs Up I keep an eye on the battery as it looks like these two issues are interconnected.

I used to get the same warnings on every start, new battery, brake switch, bulbs... all the usual suspects replaced to no avail.
Then bought an IID tool and could see trans box faults such as clutch at limit. Little bit of digging on the net led to cleaning up the electrical contacts in the three plugs into the trans box.
Whilst doing this, found the earth strap from the trans box to the body was very loose. Nipped that up and I’ve not had the faults on start up since, about 3 months now.
