Quick question on registration

Ok my RRS is at the dealers but not collecting till the 8th September

My sales guy sent me the reg for my car and it is a 67 plate

Been past the dealers today and couldn't resist popping in to see the car and it's on a 17 reg

My sales guy is on holiday so the guy I spoke with said they would change it over etc before I collect.

Is this correct or am I going to get 17 plate now it's been registered?

If it has been properly registered with a 17 plate it cannot be changed however they may have just stuck a plate on it. SVR 2018 in Santorini Black.

Thanks.

My reg I was told (67) is not listed yet. The plate that was on it I can't seem to remember the exact reg as tried several and non are RRS

The car was defo suppose to be mine as was in the compound out of site and they had to go get it for me.

Ok I have an update.

Rang the dealer again today and they assured me that my car has not been registered yet and when it is it will be on the 67 plate they already told me the full reg for.

Apparently it is when they do the PDI (pre delivery inspection) on cars arriving they like to put a plate on them so they know what is what etc

So panic over. TFFT

Still don't follow why they would need to put an irrelevant plate on it - what do they gain from this? Confused

Plate pinched of another car so they can take it a run to get the piece time burgers without asking for the trade plates....and break in the engine the apprentice way, before it's sold Wink Laughing 13MY Range Rover Sport Autobiography SDV6 - mine

My Velar had 17 plates on it when I went to see it as it arrived at the dealer - I was like you and was like WTF is it registered - they told me it was not just assigned a random plate assigned so that they can tell the cars apart.

Why do the garages have random new registration plates lying around?

If that's the case, why don't they simply have a bunch of plates marked Job 1, Job 2 etc etc which they can use time and again? There's likely a bit more to this than is being told....maybe it's financially beneficial.

Maybe it's an inside joke just to give new owners the wind up! 😉
