New to RR Sport and first issue.

Hi all.

Been lurking here for a while and learned loads about keeping these cars going. Not new to LR as had a Disco 1 and 2 and 2 Disco 3's. Just picked up 2012 HSE Luxury and got back from London to Plymouth in complete comfort.

Car has 42000 miles and is immaculate with FSH. Was a private sale and I am considering a warranty from WD.

However, there is a loud 'screeching' noise from under the drivers side that is there when not moving and increases with throttle. I am assuming this is the ace block/pump and am going to do a filter and fluid change. However, anything more than this is beyond me so does anyone know a good indi in or around the Plymouth area?

Thanks and will keep you posted.

Chris

I wouldn't have thought its the valve block for the ace system, if it where screeching you would no doubt get an error message on the dash (due to the valves not responding correctly).

Have you popped the bonnet to see if the noise is comming from the engine bay ?

Thanks for your quick reply.

No I haven't looked any further yet, but some initial research suggested the ace system and I felt an oil and filter change wouldn't hurt anyway.

But it seems to be definately from under the car under the drivers seat.

I will look forther before taking action.

Other than the gearbox, I can't really think of anything that is effected by engine rpm's (in that area), the valve block would be effected by engine speed, but as I said I can't see it causing the noise.

Could it be noise transference from the engine bay? With under trays in place, it may be coming from engine bay, but sounds like its under the drivers seat? Just bought a RRS 06 MY HSE TDV6 136,000 miles, to be a second car to my bland, boring Mitsubishi Outlander 68 plate 2.0 petrol 4

It could be and a couple of posts on various forums has pointed to power streering or alternator, so I will investigate further.

Welcome to the fold Thumbs Up
I'd bite the bullet and take it to main dealer asap for a look see. Tell them you are a new owner and looking to use them in future for servicing etc - they might soften a bit from charging you Thumbs Up
If left, it could lead to lots of other side issues....

I would

Look at the parking brake and rear callipers. I to thought my screeching noise as in the front but turned out to partially seized EPB, sticking rear passenger calliper and sticking rear pad on drivers side

I think I will try and isolate noise and report back. Thanks all so far. Anyone with knowledge of a good local Indy?
