United Kingdom 2012 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Lux Orkney Grey
Tdv6 or sdv6

Hi, new to the forum, I'm looking to get a RRS about 2010 on, up to about £25000 max
My question is, is the 3litre SDV6 engine and 8 speed auto box much of an improvement over the TDV6 with 6 speed auto.
Regards Tim

I'm biased but the 8 speed will give you more mpg.... Visitor from fullfatrr.com

Simple answer is: yes, it's an improvement. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

beware of the crank issue on the T/SDV6 though, an expensive repair bill if the crank breaks! --

The ZF 8HP 70 is a lovely smooth box.

A version of the same box is used at Aston Martin, and so do BMW (spit) and Chrysler
