Landrover warranty coming to an end

My Landrover 3 year extended warranty is coming to an end shortly
Am looking at warranty direct extra care as an alternative and main dealer repair option
Anyone had problems with WD or should I stay with Landrover Shocked

Stay with Land Rover. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

I've always extended the warranty with LandRover. Haven't dared risk anything else with the cost of LR repairs. Might think about it again when it comes up for renewal next year, as it'll be just over 6 years old then. I'm in the shed, I'll be back in the real world in a minute.

Is there stipulations to taking out a warranty with WD? What sort of price do they charge?

I had WD on my last car (Rover 75 CDTi 2005) and when a turbo and damage occurred, although stated as covered, they found a way in the small print that meant they didn't have to pay, due to the parts not being checked by them or new at takeout of policy. Be very wary, they promise the earth but just read of all the non payments, was covered on the morning "rip off" program on BBC1, the response from WD was that they had followed all their conditions that can be supplied if requested, if they paid out all claims they would soon be out of business so have to rationalise what they will cover. In my case the turbo was paid for but damaged caused when it went to engine was exempt. Please be careful out there.
I have the LR warranty and have had no problems at all at claim time. John

Mani, you have no problems paying them but have they ever coughed up for a decent sized claim without quibbling.

After market warranties are a rip-off, wouldn't touch 'em with a barge pole.

Good to know, I'll not bother with after market warranties.

From what I've read, you cannot take out the LR warranty after your original warranty has expired, is this correct?

I have WD, paying 600 for full cover (car 5 years old at this year's warranty inception). They paid out 2000 for steering pump, 1 x active shock absorber, and front & rear ARC bushes. 150 excess (50 each claim). My garage was like a dog with two tails at a warranty company paying out for ARC bushes, they couldn't believe it.

I will definitely renew with WD next year, although I am aware hey will only pay 80% of parts costs on a 6+ year old car at warranty cover inception (and parts cover decreases each year thereafter to 10 years when it becomes 0% parts). L405 P400e Autobiography (MY2020)... Silicon Silver / Espresso
RRS TDV6 HSE Lux (MY2011)... Nara Bronze / Arabica - now gone!

I am not sure, but was led to believe that you can extend your vehicle's LR Warranty until the vehicle is 10 years old, providing that the vehicle has a full LR Service History and that the Warranties are continuous. May well be worthwhile checking with your dealer as there is no 3rd Party that can match an LR Warranty.

The extended warranty can run concurrently when the original Land Rover Warranty runs out. The dealership might insist on checking your vehicle out to see if there are any faults before extending but if you get it checked whilst still under the original warranty then all will be covered. Also there will be no excess payment that will have to be paid as its a Land Rover Warranty.
In my opinion if you have the funds to pay go for a Land Rover Warranty everytime. Thumbs Up

You can extend the LR warranty without assessment if it is straight extension. They will cover up to 10 year old or 100k miles, whichever comes first on the day of renewal.

No excess, can have work done at an indie and for a bit more money you can get LR Assist. If you can, get the LR Extended warranty. Thumbs Up 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
