HDC Fault System Not Available with 3 warning lights

Hi all, hoping for some help here!

Have had my RRS for a while now and it has had this recurring error message intermittently since 5 mins after buying it!

At first it would come on during every trip, regardless of distance. I replaced the wishbones and had the tracking done and it went away for a long time, but on a long trip (motorway) it came back on. But it is intermittent, drove back from Leeds to Bournemouth and it didn't come on, drove from Bournemouth to Watford and it didn't come on but then came on during the return journey!

Someone else must have experienced this and can help me pinpoint its cause.

Thanks in advance

Hi there,
I feel your pain with the fault, your heart just sinks when you here that chime and look at the dash to see what alarms you have.
I would say that your first port of call is a recommended indi in your area as you really need the fault codes read to give you an idea as to where to start, your problem could be anything from a fault on the brake pedal switch to some water ingress to the transfer box ECU or one of the many plugs tucked behind the battery box (if the previous owner decided to power wash the engine compartment before he sold it to you!)
Having had many electrical problems myself (you can read my posts) if the only fault indication you have coming up are these 3 warning lights it could be a simple fix. Thumbs Up 2.7 HSE, Audi A6 Exec, Honda Accord Exec, Volvo 440, Volvo 360

Thanks for the replies, will check out those places for a scan. I've read quite a bit about the brake switch and also about the steering angle sensor being calibrated. Hopefully it will be one of these as they are easy fixes.

The water in the ecu worries me as the previous owner removed the battery cover and didn't replace it, I have been trying to source one for a while now. may be coincidental but the last 2 times the code came were when it was raining or very frosty and cold so moisture would seem to make sense.

Lack of a battery cover shouldn't be a problem for the ECU or TCM unless someone has been jet washing in the engine bay. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Thanks for the reply, good to know! Think I'll pick up a cover anyway just because it will look neater under there.

As there are no other issues such as limp mode, transmission errors, suspension lowering etc I'm hoping it will just be the calibration of the steering wheel but will give Bournemouth LR a call tomorrow and see if they can fit me in.

I just recently changed my lower front suspension arms and track rod ends and I was getting these indications too as I could see on the steering wheel that I had not got it quite centred (steering wheel centre was off at about 11 o'clock). You are saying that the fault is intermittent but mine was every time I drove, after a couple of minutes it would alarm as the sensors were picking up that the steering angle didn't correspond to the wheel speed sensors.
After a realignment all was well again. 2.7 HSE, Audi A6 Exec, Honda Accord Exec, Volvo 440, Volvo 360

Hi, I found the invoice and details.
The codes /lights appearing the same as yours.
All turned out to be related to Speed Signal . In my case the right rear sensor where the connection was only loosely sitting together because it was full of dried out mud.
They cleaned out the dirt and fully seated the connector (and carried out a steering angle calibration).
Hope this helps. 2006 4.2 S/C with Tow Pack, Side Steps, DRL's, 19" & 20" wheels, additional 110 ltr Fuel Tank Roof Rack and performance mods.

Thanks CRACKA, look forward to receiving the info if you find it.

Fish - mine did do it every time before my wishbones were replaced, I had the same as you, an off centre steering wheel etc. But the wishbones being replaced and tracking done sorted it, its only on really long journeys that it comes on, and only on motorways etc. when I'm driving in a straight line for a long time. My wheel looks to be centred (other than a small amount of turn due to road angle) but I may get the tracking checked again just to be sure.

Thanks CRACKA, appreciate the time taken to look for it, the steering angle calibration is something that I'm hoping will work so that's really helpful. Thumbs Up
