Exit lights on bottom of doors

Do the door lights only support same type of bulbs or can LED versions be added.

I replaced mine with LEDs all round, it's worth cutting into the housing a little then you can fit a panel with either 8 or 12 LEDs rather than a single.

I used these in all four doors and in the boot as well:

http://www.advancedfactors.co.uk/glo133-12...4777-p.asp

LEDs have a positive and negative so will only work when fitted to the correct polarity (unlike a standard bulb), so if the don't work unplug and flip them round the other way.

Hi,
AF led's are good, but I replaced mine with canbus ones off ebay 10 for less than £5 fine for the ones in the doors, footwells, glovebox, rear reading lingts and 3 centre lights, about a dozen inside alone Rolling Eyes
use the AF ones if you are going to do side lights, number plate lights.

Third car I have replaced them on and only had 1 that was temperamental 1 of the 5 led kept going off randomly

Thumbs Up

Do the canbus ones used in the interior lights fade correctly? Robin

Not having fitted them yet but I would suspect it is just that the bulb is located at one end rather than centrally. I have seen replacement kits which have LED right across the length of the holder. More expensive but might be worth a try in the future. I'm also wondering about the coloured option for the foot wells. Anyone tried them? Robin

I've just purchased and fitted these: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/272128114698?_tr...EBIDX%3AIT
and they work fine. And, as riverblanche says the gradual dimming still works as well - (how could I ever doubt it?). For £4.99 and free delivery, what could go wrong?
Two things I noted - if they don't initially work, turn the bulb around as they are polarity sensitive, and when doing the nearside footwell bulb (which is tucked as far forward as they could make it) don't pull too hard or you'll separate the bulb holder from its wire plug and that means removing part of the trim below the glove compartment to reconnect it again!
On my 2008 TDV8 I count 11 interior bulbs that I could replace and so with a pack of 10 I left the glove compartment bulb as original and replaced all the others. It would be nice to have another light in the boot area - perhaps that's a mod for another day. Robin

I can understand where you're coming from Blueskye1 and it may well be that I'll move on to the full LEDs but for a fiver I thought I'd give them a try. Looking forward to dark to see the improvement.
Does anyone know if the upper glove box has any illumination? Robin
