I have been offered a Customer (Auto) Protect Gold Warranty from a dealer. Does anyone have one of these warranties and if you do, do you have any good or bad experiences when trying to get repairs dealt with?

Also, as an alternative, do you have a warranty? If you do, who is it with? and again, do you have any good or bad experiences when trying to get repairs dealt with?

Only an alternator, but they only cover up to £40 p/h labour, and price match Euro Car Parts, regardless of brand/advice

Go for Warranty Direct, IMHO

I got a quote from Warranty Direct the other day. Unfortunately, they were around 30% dearer than Customer Protect were for their equivalent 2 year warranty, in fact, CP's 3 year warranty was around the same price as the 2 year warranty from WD but should that set alarm bells ringing ?

No. I have never had a claim rejected from WD, no quibble on parts or labour prices

Just because it's cheap, doesn't mean it's any good

Is the warranty being offered by the dealer as part of a sales package? They often "give" these warranties as a way of deflecting the customer. If the vehicle has a fault in the initial stages of ownership, it's the dealer's responsibility to fix it. They try to fob people off with a warranty that often says "no".

Once you're away from that initial period, get the warranty with the best coverage not the lowest price. If the price is low then the chances of them paying out will be lower too. No free lunches when it comes to insurance. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed
