The end of the road in Europe.....

I got to 100m from the end of the E6 Euroroute this morning........


This really is the end of the road

Under the canopy on the right is Russia!

And the local Norwegian town is Kirkenes in Norway or Murmansk across the border - Diesel in Murmansk is about 0.70 a litre, in Kirkenes it is 1.40 a litre..........

Unfortunately I had to go by tour bus, as I'm not travelling in my Sport but as a passenger on a Hurtigruten Ferry.

Oh and the other end of the E6 Euroroute is Rome in Italy, the drive from Kirkenes top Oslo is exactly half the distance to Rome too. Hoping maybe next summer to bring the car across to explore Norway a bit more.

I can highly recommend this way of travelling though, it is very civilised if a bit pricey and it has car decks for up to 49 vehicles as it is life-line ferry service that stops at 34 ports in 12 days, carries freight and cars as well as "cruise" passengers like me

Have been making inquiries about doing the "Classic" Hurtigruten one way - drive to Bergen put car into ferry, sail to Nord Kapp/ Honningsvag or Kirkenes and then drive back south. Taking the car isn't as expensive as I expected BUT what will it be next year after the pound has fallen further? Prices are steep as it is - a glass of decent Portguese White with dinner - 9-90, that's a glass not the whole bottle - that is 54! NC500 come first, then Iceland, although I could accept Norway as a good substitute for Iceland!
I was staggered to find the Schengen sign at the border - I know Norway is only an associate member of the EU but I didn't know it was also a member of the Schengen Area - makes you wonder why they didn't just go the full way and sign up for full membership. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
