B Pillar issue on Discovery Sport

For some time there have been a growing number of posts regarding a ticking/creaking noise from B pillar on DS models. At first this was thought to be an early model problem but it's still affecting recent models and I've heard some D4 models too Sad

This is how it's currently suggested to fix the problem Shocked

I am astounded at the invasive method and would be very unhappy to have this done to a new circa £40k premium vehicle Rolling Eyes

I know owners who are unhappy to have this work done and are getting fobbed off by dealers and LRCR - one has been offered the repair or £10k px loss to change a 600 mile DS and basically told take it or leave it. They have resorted to social media and negotiations have been reopened but they shouldn't have to do this to make LR do the right thing. I think this is a terrible way to treat customers and will certainly reduce any possibility of me returning to the JLR brand Big Cry Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

Still hoping for a S2 one day!

I know that it was always said that you could repair a Defender with a hammer and some gaffer tape but using a hammer and chisel on a new DS? Mad Mad Regards

2009 Range Rover Sport TDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey

I would of thought this aftermarket 'surgery' would affect the cars integrity and safety, surely it won't be as safe as an untouched factory fresh model Shocked 2019 BMW X3 2.0i M Sport in metalic black- Brilliant

I'm not an Engineer but breaking seams on B pillar must allow water ingress, invite corrosion and weaken structural integrity - they should take a leaf from Samsung and give refunds to anyone with this issue Rolling Eyes Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

Not sure if you guys might have missed this but a number of RRS'S have had this problem, my personal car hadn't done a 1000 miles when I couldn't stand it no more. LR technical advised a fix and lo and behold it's not there anymore and I'm now on 4000 miles.
Check out HOME>GENERAL( L494)>NOISE FROM PILLAR.
You will see an Aussie guy had an unusual way of fixing his but I think that's a lot to do with the heat in Aus, we don't get that problem in sunny Wales Whistle Whistle . But anyway my dealership had a fix advice off LR technical and it seems to have done the job. No LR's were hurt in this type of fix Thumbs Up Thumbs Up
