Another Newbie

Dear All,

After having sold my money pit (Disco 3)! I'm very keen to acquire an RR Sport, there's two I'm very interested in, both 06 with 84k and 96k respectively.

The 84k ticks all of the boxes and has been the owner of an LR Indie's wifes' car and has been serviced as you'd expect.
For £1,500 less the 96k two owner car also ticks the boxes but needs a cambelt...

There is a third option, an 07 TDV8 for a further £1k but looks immaculate.

Any guidance 2.7 vs 3.6?

Having sold the Disco 3 2 weeks ago I'm keen to get out of my £400 stopgap Rover 25 (60k miles and 2 owner)... SWMBO is also refusing to travel in Rovers finest...

Thanks,

HFM66

I'd go for the Indy's one and ask for a belt to be fitted.
Who is the Indy out of interest? Gott? Rovertune? Nene? Guava? Visitor from fullfatrr.com

What makes you think the RRS will be less of a money pit? It is a disco3 in a party frock, they are almost the same car under the skin! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

^ What Camelrock says, TDv8 was the diesel motor RRS should have had from day 1. I have run the 2.7TDv6, 3.6TDv8 and a FFRR Tdv8 3.6 Vogue.............. The RRS TDv8 was the best of the lot, could get up and go, smooth and quiet and most important of all, unlike the same motor in the FFRR, it could stop amazingly quickly on the Brembo brakes that the FFRR version didn't have. I made a huge mistake swapping the TDv8 RRS for the TDv8 L322 Vogue, handling wise no comparison.

LFW, I noticed that too. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it

Thanks for the comments and apologies about no posts... I've been in a meeting all day, honest...

The one at the Indie on paper is the sensible and best looking option, it's been properly serviced and had the cambelt!
It's an indie over near Harlow, so the joys of a little 120 mile trip in the old Rover tomorrow.

The V8 does sound tempting, even if just for the news.

I am a newbie to this site, although a member of the Disco 3 site. I will hopefully become more active after I finally buy the right one.

I hope it won't be as expensive as my last D3, set me back over £4k over the past 12 months, over half of the purchase price!

Thanks,

HFM66

They weren't having a go because you hadn't replied, they were pointing out that you'd made a post but the post counter on your profile showed a zero. Which is odd. Having made two posts, your counter shows 1. Still odd.

That's the problem with buying expensive vehicles at the tail end of their life - if any previous owner has skimped on maintenance you're likely to have to pick up the pieces. They are complex bits of kit, take more than their fair share of TLC to keep running and the bits are generally expensive. All a recipe for maintenance to be done on a "I'll do that at the next service, maybe" basis. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

United Kingdom 2007 Range Rover Sport TDV8 HSE Java Black

I'll put my money on the fact if you drive the TDV8 you'll buy it.
I drove a few TDV6 cars before driving the TDV8 and then fell in love with it. Iv only owned mine for a week and I'm like a kid with a new toy.
It's doing about 25mpg under various driving conditions, haven't really been on the motorway much so I think it will get higher when I do, it did 22.2 mpg towing the caravan !!!.
So far it doesn't have any suspension noises, it drives straight and it's possibly the best car iv owned.
Anyway I think TDV8 is the way to go !!
