RRS 2.0 best car for depreciation

So reading, the latest whatcar magazine, I notice that the Range Rover sport 2.0SD4 HSE is considered the least depreciating car, retaining 67% over 3 years, 30,000 miles.
Cost new £59,460, RV predicted £39,838, losing only £19,622(!)

This beats the Porsche macan, which is a slight surprise.

However, the big surprise is in 23rd place...

Range Rover Sport 3.0 V6 HSE dynamic.
Cost £63,460, RV predicted £34,903 (55%), losing £28,557...

Surely this cannot be the case (the 6 cylinder predicted to be losing almost 10k more than the 4 cylinder over 3 years)? I Would think that most buyers of a RRS would want to buy the 6 cylinder engine and would be prepared to pay the same or more for such a car??

Do other people have a view on this?

It's only their guess, they have no actual data for the SD4. Time will tell.

United Kingdom 2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 Autobiography Fuji White

RRS sdv6 will loose a fortune,,& the reason being is you keep it 3 years & take to dealers to px they offer you rock bottom & they get away with it because most buying secondhand 3 year motors will go to dealers because of warranty,so trying to get 5-6k more private is hard unless your selling to someone who knows you & the car,,plus most want finance & think they can only get at dealers.I lost 9k in 11 month on my RRS1 when traded in & I'll probably loose 20k when I trade in in 2 years time,,the joys of owning a top end motor.

2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey

Actually, according to What Car? The SDv6 HDE Dynamic is still in the top 30 cars at number 23! There are 4 Land Rover products in the top 30.............. RRS is 23= with Cayene Diesel S and Lexus NX300h 2.5 S with retained value of 55%. No2 and 3 are Porsches Macan Diesel S and Porsche Cayman 3.8GT4, at N04 is the Evoque ED4 (the 2WD version) SE. The only Jaguar is the F Pace 3.0v6 S (I assume that that is the Diesel not the 3.0 v6 S/C) at No18. The worst 4 are the Electric cars - Nissan Leaf with retain value of 16%, Renault Zoe, Peugeot Ion and Citroen CZero all at 18%.............. No mention of the Milk Float anywhere, but Ford Focus RS is 10th equal with Aston Martin DB11, Toyota Prius 1.8VVT and Kia Sportage.

I don't know how What Car? deduced that the 2.0RRS holds it's value so well, I didn't think any have been sold by dealers yet! 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
2018 Melting Silver Mini Countryman PHEV - soon to be replaced
2015MY Corris Grey SDv6 HSE Dynamic, the best car I have ever owned, totally reliable only a cou0le of rattles in 3 years, now no longer in my care
Also in my garage is a 1996 TDi300 Defender 90 County HT made into a fake CSW

When I was speccing my car in November, I was chatting to a couple of the sales guys, they had yet to sell a 2.0 RRS or even have an enquiry about one, they said that they would not have a demonstrator as they would struggle to sell it on.

My theory re high end values is that many in the 2nd hand market can't afford the service and running costs. I have generally found it better to keep a high end car for a longer period this way you amortize the depreciation at a more acceptable rate. M16 SVD8 ,4.4 HSE with a few extras, Sold R50 , Wife SQ5 , BMW R1200GSW.
