Help - Black 'spare' alloy rim from RRS

I'm after a very cheap 19" rim to use as a spare (no tyre required) instead of the skinny space-saver I have now.

Does anyone know why the 19" 6 spoke HSE rims that are painted black and were supplied as spares on the older RRS have a '50 mph' warning label attached? Are the rims a lower load rating than the silver equivalent? The whole point of me sourcing a full size spare is so I can continue to drive at normal speeds after changing it so don't want to buy one of these if it won't do the job. Andy

They have the 50mph because most RRS are fitted with 20" so wouldn't be a match and classed as emergency wheel

Even if you had 19" they may be different tyre or alloy model so they cover their backs

If you want to drive normal speed without issues you need 5 matching alloys and tyres I think Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

Still hoping for a S2 one day!

Thanks, I would be fitting a tyre that matches the rest of mine (it's a D4 on 19's) so the wheel itself was the concern, couldn't really see what difference it would make but now I see that mixed with 20's on a RRS it would be a different prospect Thumbs Up

I can pick up one of these old black rims for peanuts compared to £150+ for a matching alloy so it's a no-brainer really as a spare. Andy

There are issues using rrs alloys on D4 due to different weight rating so just check

Also a lot of owners had their spares stolen which then appear cheap on ebay Embarassed Wanted a Series 2 LR since childhood but previously owned MY16 Disco Sport HSE TD4 Auto, MY13 RR Sport Black Edition TDV6 Auto, MY10 RR Sport HSE TDV6 Auto, 2007 Freelander 1 Freestyle TD4 Soft Top, 2009 Freelander 2 GS TD4 Auto, 2007 Freelander 2 GS TD4, 2004 Disco 2 Metropolis Auto, 2002 Disco 2 GS, 2000 Freelander 1 SE TD4 SW

The black spare is a slightly narrower rim than the normal 19in road rims. You can fit a full size tyre, of course, and it works just fine. My tyre guy tells me that with the full size tyre fitted you can ignore the warning sticker; from a physical safety issue he's probably right, however I'm sure an insurance company would use it against you in a claim.

I've moved to a full 19in alloy as my spare now. I've got three other 19in alloys in the garage - I'd intended to have a set Duratracs and a set of ATRs but I'll need to find another full size alloy now... 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed
