United Kingdom 2011 Range Rover Sport 3.0 TDV6 HSE Lux Stornoway Grey
Service Costs

Just had a price from my local Landrover main dealer to carry out a 5th year service. They came in quite high I think at £688.96. I therefore phoned a Landrover main dealer 40 miles away and they gave me a slightly discounted price (according to them) of £380.00. Surely this cannot be for the same service ?

I told both dealers the same details. I am astounded at the price difference.

Does anyone have any advice(apart from the obvious and take the lower price)

The car is a 2011 Sport 3.0hse Luxury.

Thanks 2011 HSE Luxury, Stornaway Grey, Lux Pack, Privacy glass.

Ottons (well...Westover now) are a broadly good bunch, but not cheap. I would suggest you go to an indy anyway. Thumbs Up Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK

Hi Lost For Words

I have got a extended Landrover warranty and I think that I have got to get it serviced at a main dealer ?

Have you had any good or bad experiences from Landrover main dealers in this area.

When you say "extended warranty" do you mean the warranty provided by Car Care Plan (CCP) after the standard 3-years-from-new warranty expires?

You do not have to get it serviced by a LR dealer at all. The warranty still covers you so long as you have the vehicle serviced by a VAT-registered garage/mechanic.

LR's extended warranty is a third-party policy and will also allow you to have warranty work done at a non-LR garage too. I wish I'd found that out years ago! Obviously check with your chosen garage first - they might need to contact CCP first. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders
2008 TDV8 - it was a labour of love and is much missed

Yes it is the Landrover warranty as you say provided by a third party. I assumed that Landrover needed the car serviced by a main dealer.

Thanks for letting me know, I will enquire at a local indy for a price.

I still cannot understand why two Main Dealers can be so far apart on price !

Thanks for the info. 2011 HSE Luxury, Stornaway Grey, Lux Pack, Privacy glass.

I've had little personal experience of any main dealers recently - either DIY, or would always use an indy. I've had plenty of dealings with the guys at Ottons in the past and I would trust them to get it right, but at a price. I have a friend that is a loyal customer of Harwoods Basingstoke but I fear it is not a decision based on much logic or thought but a force of habit.

Re warranty, as above. If you want the absoute best, I can very highly recommend Steve Norman - you won't find a better guy - but he is a little way off (south of Shepton Mallet). Mark West is very highly regarded on the forums too. Thumbs Up Visiting from DISCO3.CO.UK
