I've read several threads on this topic and some say you leave the air suspension alone, other say go to 'off-road' height, other say lock it in access mode, some say leave the tailgate, windows, side door open, some say you can get the wheel to lift itself off the ground.

Put the suspension in extended height mode, otherwise you have to jack to that level first. |

Just jack it up. If you want to save a bit of work you can put it in off-road height first. Nothing else to it; opening a door stops it making a ride height change but does not stop it self levelling and you cannot get it to lift itself off the ground as it can only pump air in and relase it, not suck it out. Owners Handbook say's put car in Off Road Height, nothing about leaving door or tailgate open.

Thanks everyone. I think tomorrow's the day when I decide it's finally cold enough to change to winter tyres. Could find myself changing back to marginally blockier summer tyres as soon as I need to venture off-road agin in a few days. The mud has been defeating almost every vehicle not on serious tyres (and Grabbers are barely serious enough let alone the rubbish I'm running at the moment). |
