Who is (or is going to be) your RRS2 Insurer?

Before placing my L494 order, I got insurance quotes and the premiums were only slightly higher than my current Sport. Last night I searched again and got a massive shock! The quotes came in at about twice the price of my RRS1 insurance (which is already extortionate) Shocked I am not even comparing to what I paid last year but looking at new quotes for the 2 cars. The current car has the same security vulnerabilities as the new one (albeit less desirable now) and doesn't have the latest security updates that LR are rolling out to the new car. Got online/phone quotes from 3 insurers that were not coming up on comparison websites and they were even worse.

We have no claims, ever. Not particularly young either. One 3point/£60 fixed penalty for me (about 3.5 years ago) and one 3 point/£60 fixed penalty for wife (nearly 5 years ago). Live in Greater London.

So ... who have you insured your L494 with and if you are awaiting delivery, have you checked insurance prices? Any recommended insurers asking for reasonable premiums? Current: Volvo XC90 T8 Inscription Pro PHEV with some optionals on top

I did the on line land rover one but it didn't work and asked me to ring them , I will chase it up as I need a policy for the dealer to do the number plates .
I did read somewhere about 7 days free insurance with your new car .

Cheapest without adding a black box was £2,364 (LV=). Admiral (current insurer) was £2,700+ (although haven't spoken to them on the phone yet). DirectLine quoted over £3,700 on phone. LR Insurance won't give a quote online with driving offences but without was over £1,900 and office closed on Sunday so can't phone them to get a price with the penalties.

Paid between £1,100 and £1,200 for my HSE Black Edition last October and I checked at the time that penalties only accounted for around £200 of that premium. Quotes for current car at £1,380 now so still an increase even though the car is valued less now and convictions are older.

Not a small premium for living in London (which would be fair) Big Cry

On the drive. I considered cleaning up the garage couple of years ago to see if the RRS would fit but for some strange reason premium was higher if specified parking in garage so didn't bother.

There's an idea: start parking on the street. Might get cheaper insurance because if on driveway, thieves know which house to break into for keys but on street they don't. Current: Volvo XC90 T8 Inscription Pro PHEV with some optionals on top

I don't have the latest model, but have always found NFU very reasonable - and they are easy to contact and talk to. Think I pay about £600

Tim, true.

Sharpie, haven't checked NFU since they quoted me £4k for a 4 year old RRS but will check again. Current: Volvo XC90 T8 Inscription Pro PHEV with some optionals on top

Cheapest quotes I got a couple of weeks ago were around £600 from Land Rover Insurance, through Compare The Market cheapest was £568. These only valid for a month so will need to check in September and see what comes up then.

Unfortunately it's your greater London postcode....this is where all of the RRS's have been stolen recently. All without keys from the street and peoples driveways....

Clear the garage out and lock it away at night away from prying eyes....I live in Kent and pay £420!

It's worth searching Confused.com for your best quote....

The "best" quote of £2364 was from confused.com. Moneysupermarket.com reduces it to £2192 (same insurer). I can get it to roughly £2050 mark (Elephant) by increasing the voluntary excess to £1k.

Gocompare was even worse. Will give comparethemarket.com a go but don't think it would be too different. May be up to a couple of hundred here or there.

Checked garage parking and this time it does reduce the premium ... by a whopping £59 Laughing Not worth the hassle.

Admiral LittleBox with a £1000 excess was relatively sane at £1442 but getting a "big brother" box installed in my car has been a big NO for me so far. May be I should go down that route. Experiences?

Don't understand what changed between March and now. Keyless thefts were no secret even then. Surely the BHP increase from 292 to 306 can't be behind a £900 hike in premium (non-black box quotes started at around £1400 when I checked before ordering). Nothing has changed on my side: still live in the same house, same usage (SD&P only), same mileage (8000), same drivers and driving convictions. Current: Volvo XC90 T8 Inscription Pro PHEV with some optionals on top

2013 Range Rover Sport SDV6 HSE Stornoway Grey

I have insured with Land Rover Insurance since 1997, they have been by far the cheapest for me (ancient driver with 35 years clean and accident free driving, in high risk employment with off road use and recovery, car left on drive for months on end without use). Last year they even decided that my RR Evoque and Defender constituted a "Fleet" and I now have one policy covering both cars. My Evoque (value £55000) cost me £190pa with offroad use and the 1996 Defender TDi300 £240 (it has no antitheft devices at all). I had just paid a full year's premium in early March when I changed to the RRS2 and LRI asked me for an additional £35 to upgrade from the Evoque to the RRS............. I don't even have a low risk postcode being in an FK rural code where there has been quite a lot of vehicle theft, especially Land Rovers from farms.. 2020 Pangea Green 1st Edition D240 New Defender 110 is here and loving it
