Welcome to the forum - i take it the purchase is not from a Landrover Dealership ? Try contacting Approved Warranty Administration 0844 573 8055 - this is the Landrover product £1095 approx for the best cover with Landrover assist. Other options are independent warranty companies - IMO a warranty of some sort is a must.

No one warranty is perfect as it very much depends on individual circumstances. A lot of people say Land Rover Assist but it is limited abroad on the number of days covered. Also expensive.

For most people, LR's warranty with Assist is probably the best. If you need long Euro-trip cover then Assist isn't for you. The warranty is still good though even on its own.

Do we not all agree that it is a bad state of affairs that we buy British and the first thing we need to do is get a good warranty in place? My previous car was a 3 year old Audi A8 and not once did it cross my mind to look at a warranty. In 90,000 miles, I only ever opened the bonnet to fill the windscreen washer bottle. The very minute I started looking for an RRS, I also started looking at warranty companies.

Yes, it is a bad state of affairs. Having said that, I've seen people recommend warranty purchase when buying other marques such as Porsche. The issue, really, is the cost to fix as much as the likelihood of failure. With an Audi, you can replace many parts with cheaper identical items used on Skodas, for example. Also, there are a lot of aftermarket parts for VAG and lots of garages specialising in them. We have one near here - used it for my Golf and still use it for our Skoda. Parts are cheap and the labour rate is reasonable. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

Absolutely agree. Just going in to my 4th week of waiting for LR Customer Service to tell me what went wrong with my car and why the LR dealer cannot programme a 2nd key. My mind boggles that everyone puts up with this regardless of how much we all like our cars. No way are they ever going to drastically improve whilst they are getting away with customers rolling over on bad service and support. I keep hearing that everyone is as bad and all 4x4s are the same. Perhaps read the Warranty Direct reliability index, Which reports, JD Powers, talk to AA breakdown guys and then say they are the same as all the other 4x4s. I am happy to stand up and be counted and think they are a shower and need a huge kick up the behind. Not impressed. I expect I will gt kicked off the forum for being so vocal but if they bothered to come back on their promises and tell me what is happening I might not be so vocal. |

Hear, hear! They really should be given a kicking. I'm voting with my feet in one way - I'm no longer using LR's dealer network. I'll be supporting the indie network from now on. They give a stuff because it's their business and their name over the door. 2012 SDV6 - it's missing a couple of cylinders

I bought a 2012 sport last week really pleased with it. Its still under manufacturers warranty until August. Low coolant level light started to come on (water level fine) rang land rover assist, they came out to it and booked it in at the dealers for the same day, they are putting a new sensor/bottle in it and they also delivered me a new RRS to play around in until mines ready. Really pleased with the speed of service so i have extended the warranty with assist for £1030.
